RiverCenter is fortunate to have a devoted volunteer organization. Members work tirelessly to assure quality execution of the diverse programs, projects and activities that RiverCenter produces or hosts. These individuals contribute their time working in a number of capacities to make sure patrons have an enjoyable experience each time they visit RiverCenter. Volunteer positions include:

Greeters: As greeters for the RiverCenter, they are the first face welcoming our patrons to the building and the event they are attending. Equipped with information patrons may need, greeters should be able to answer questions regarding the show and the theater. They may also assist patrons, with and without ADA assistance needs, with finding their seats.

Ticket Takers: Our ticket takers stand at the doors to our theater and assist our patrons in reading their tickets and making sure they are in the correct place to find their seat. They will then either scan the ticket with a handheld scanner or tear the stub off the ticket and show the patron inside where an usher will help them find their seats.

Ushers: Ushers welcome patrons into the theater and help them find their seats as well as answer questions they may have. They are alert to the needs of our patrons, care of our theater, and the companies putting on the show. They ensure that our policies are followed regarding photography, video, and unauthorized food or drink inside the theater.

Specialized Volunteer Opportunities

These positions require extra training and may require you to report earlier than other volunteers.

Head Usher: Head Ushers are assigned a floor and will keep track of the volunteers on their floor in case they need assistance. They assist with any kind of pre-show set up as well as giving out flashlights or doorstops. They are responsible for allowing our ushers into the theater ahead of patrons and to make sure doors are closed or open.

Lobby Coordinator: Lobby Coordinators monitor the lobby, greeters, and ticket takers. They direct patrons on how to find what they are looking for and can assist with ADA patrons if needed. They also maintain our program carts to make sure there are not any empty carts.

Assistant House Manager: This position works in tandem with the House Manager during events, making sure everything runs smoothly and monitoring the volunteers. They should be knowledgeable about the theater and able to answer any questions a patron may have. Assistant House Managers may be asked to cover any of the above positions or anything else the House Manager may ask of them.
