Tickets for Troops
Reuniting with family and friends after a separation can seem like starting over rather than picking up where you left off. The mental journey back to civilian life takes longer than the physical journey. After the homecoming celebrations have stopped it is essential for our troops to focus activities that help to reconnect with family, friends and co-workers. Getting connected to a larger community is an important step toward feeling at home.
RiverCenter launched Tickets For Troops on Veterans Day 2013. The program provides service members and their families with tickets to select shows throughout the season.
With your support we intends to:
• Show our gratitude for their service and sacrifice
• Help returning service members adjust to civilian life
• Provide opportunities for a spouse or children to reconnect with their service member
• Introduce military families (new to the area) to the rich local arts scene
To comply with regulations set forth by the United States Office of Government Ethics regarding gifts to government employees: Tickets-For Troops will provide free admission to select widely-attended public performances and each admission ticket for a service member will be valued less than $20 with no more than $50 in gifts knowingly distributed to the same service member in a calendar year. Ticket vouchers will be distributed to the Moral Welfare and Recreation Office.
