Urban Bush Women – Hair Stories 3.3

April 26, 2018 @ 7:30 pm

$49

The dance, music, and history of the African Diaspora comes to RiverCenter when Urban Bush Women takes the stage performing Hair and other stories. HairStories 3.3 (developed by Jawole Zollar and Urban Bush Women, along with director Raelle Myrick Hodges and comedic writer  Keisha Zollar) is a multidisciplinary, evening-length work that addresses matters of race, gender identity, and economic inequality through the lens of hair – primarily that of African American women.

The presentation of Hair and other stories by Urban Bush Women was made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Additional support was provided through a grant from South Arts in partnership with the national Endowment for the Arts and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
